Randy and Mary Brannan: Owners of Roanoke Landscapes
Randy and Mary Brannan came to the Roanoke Valley by way of West Virginia in 2000. In West Virginia, Randy worked as a mining engineer for 25 years in the southern coalfields and Mary worked in the floral industry as a wholesaler and retailer. During this stint, she honed her passion for design and color coordinating while on occasion installing small landscape projects.
In 2001, they purchased a small landscape construction company and changed the name to Roanoke Landscapes. Over the following years, the company has grown substantially and expanded services to include designing and building landscapes and hardscapes, landscape maintenance, property management, underground irrigation, holiday lighting, and water features.
Thank you and your crew for your beautiful work! The re-grading of the yard, the new stairs and retaining walls came out better than I thought they could. You folks went above and beyond my expectations! And the good Lord provided 2 days of rainfall to help us out with watering the new sod!
I will be calling you folks again real soon when I am ready to mulch the front and side of my property.
Again, Thanks for a job well done.
With much appreciation,
Mary, Randy and All,
Thanks again, for the nice job that you did for us. We really appreciate your careful, thoughtful approach.
Best regards, Andy & John
We are grateful that Greenbrier Nurseries highly recommended you. Your workmanship was superb, and every piece of debris was cleaned up when you finished.
Thank you. We will recommend you to all we know. Jim and Colleen

We were particularly surprised with how nice the old boxwoods look, the pruning you did is amazing! But the whole combination looks perfect. We couldn’t be happier.” –The Hyltons

Bradley Newman: Professional Property Management
When Bradley joined the crew of Roanoke Landscapes some 18 months ago, he brought with him a plethora of experience and expertise in a variety of fields, from his service in the military to his life-long interest in gardening and plant ecosystems. As a child, Bradley grew up working with plants and gardens at his parents’ home in Illinois. In 1998, after two years of community college, Bradley joined the U.S Marine Corps and served five years active duty. Afterwards, he completed a Bachelor’s of Science in Geography at Illinois State University. At school, he fostered an interest in biogeography and the study of the distribution and relation of plant species and ecosystems. His passion for biogeography and the science of plant life has aided him in his career as a landscaper.
After moving to Roanoke several years ago, Bradley began working as a commercial landscaper for Prestige Acres Landscaping Inc. In February of 2016, he joined the team at Roanoke Landscapes and quickly moved forward in the company, mastering skills such as landscape maintenance management, pruning, and installations. Currently, he works as our Property Manager and supervises two full mowing crews. During his time in Roanoke, he has made himself an invaluable company asset by earning career course certifications from Virginia Western Community College and earning his Commercial Pesticide Application License.
In his free time, Bradley enjoys reading about gardening and plants. He is specifically interested in plant origins, plant interactions with one another and with human habitats, and host plants for pollinators such as butterflies and moths. Knowledgeable, friendly, and confident, Bradley helps make Roanoke Landscapes the award-winning company that all of our clients know and trust.
Salvador Garcia: Lead Irrigation Technician
Like many of our employees, Sal has extensive experience in green industry. At eight years old, he started working in the agricultural farm business. For the next several years, he picked coffee beans, planted vegetables, made compost, and learned the ins and outs of agricultural landscaping.
Sal finished high school with a degree in graphic design and went on to spend a year at university in an engineering program. In 2000, he moved to The United States and began working at The Virginia Brick Company. Within a year and a half, he was promoted to a supervisor position and managed the daily tasks of over 30 employees until he left the company in 2008.
After moving stateside, he began dabbling part time in the construction industry, learning every aspect of construction and design that he could. He acquired his contractors license in 2011 and still works on freelance projects in his spare time.
Since starting at Roanoke Landscapes, Sal has learned almost every aspect of our business inside and out. He has mulched, mowed, worked on hardscape construction projects, coordinated planting designs, and assisted with property management. Now, he enthusiastically leads our irrigation crew. Through his extensive experience and his hilarious banter, he has earned an excellent rapport with our customers. We are proud to have Salvador as part of our team.
